Scott leads USA over American Samoa

Saturday night in Austin, Texas The Under-19 National Team began its defense of its International Federation of American Football Under-19 World Championship gold medal, with a 27-6 win over American Samoa.

Memphis commit Brayden Scott completed 13 of 20 passes for 196 yards and 1 touchdown; he also rushed for one touchdown.

Scott came into the game as the only quarterback on the roster due to Trent Hosick's departure for personal reasons.

The U.S. team didn't have to worry about the quarterback situation as they handled American Samoa.

The U.S. scored the games first 20 points. Jesus Wilson took the opening kickoff 77 yards to give the U.S. a 6-0 lead. Then Brayden Scott ran a quarterback sneak for 1 yard to make it 13-0. Demarcus Ayers scored on a 7-yard pass from Scott to give the U.S. team a 20-0 lead before American Samoa scored on a 66-yard drive that ended with Howard Tautu scoring from a yard out.

With a 20-6 lead in the 4th quarter and a little over 8 minutes to go Scott put the nail in the coffin completing 4-of-5 passes for 81 yards and Tarean Folston scored from a yard out and the Americans took a commanding 27-6 lead and that's all they needed.

Memphis native Bobby Billingsley was stellar on the offensive line opening up massive holes for the running backs, it's easy to see why the University of Memphis offered him.

Next up for Team USA is Austria on July 4th.

Austria demolished Panama 40-0. Other cores on the day: Canada 43, Sweden 0; Japan 27, France 6.
