Memphis-Cincinnati: By the Numbers

The Memphis Tigers will play a rare week night football game on Wednesday night, and the opposition is formidable. The 5-2 Cincinnati Bearcats come into the game with the seventh-ranked defense in the country, a stingy unit that allows fewer than 290 yards per game.

This is a critical game for Memphis for several reasons. The Tigers are laboring under a three-game losing streak, each in more heartbreaking fashion than its predecessor. In their last outing, the Tigers literally ran out of time, rallying from a 31-3 second quarter deficit but ultimately falling, 34-29, to a very mediocre Mustang team. After the current three-game home stand ends with a contest next weekend versus UT-Martin, there will only be one more game in the friendly confines of the Liberty Bowl, versus Temple in Game 11. There will be three (3) road games in their last four tilts: at South Florida, at Louisville and the season finale at Connecticut.
