3 Tiger Footballers to Play in All-Star Games

University of Memphis departing seniors Marcus Rucker, Cannon Smith and Robert Steeples have been selected to play in the 2013 Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game Jan. 11, 2013, in Tucson, Ariz. Smith has also been selected to play in the inaugural Raycom College Football All-Star Classic on Jan. 19 in Montgomery, Ala.
Both all-star games provide a platform for selected athletes to showcase their talents to scouts from the NFL, CFL and arena football leagues.

The Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game will be played at Kino Stadium in Tucson and will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks including ESPN3 and WatchESPN.com.
The Raycom College Football All-Star Classic will be played in Montgomery's Cramton Bowl and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
Rucker, an All-Conference USA Honorable Mention selection this year, started all 12 games as a senior and led the Tigers with 47 receptions for 525 yards and had three touchdowns.
Smith finished the 2012 season with 50 total tackles along with two pass breakups and a pair of fumble recoveries. During his three-year career with the Tigers, he started on both sides of the ball. Smith started at quarterback as a sophomore before transitioning to defense.
Steeples played only one season at Memphis after transferring from the University of Missouri. In 2012, he registered 42 tackles including two for loss, broke up five passes and recovered three fumbles, returning one for a touchdown.
Earlier this month it was announced that offensive lineman Jordan Devey was selected to play in the 88th Annual East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 19 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.
