Why Memphis?

"The coaching staff at Memphis was the most genuine coaching staff that I was recruited by. I can see that they like what they are doing and the like what I bring to the table. Being at Memphis will be great for me to grow as an individual and as a player," Edmondson told TigerSportsReport.

Before Coronavirus shut everything down, Edmondson visited Memphis for their Jr. Day back in January.

"It was great, I loved it. The coaching staff was very welcoming and involved. Memphis is a special place."

Memphis has built a Nashville pipeline and that's something that caught his eye.

"I see players like TJ Carter, Obinna Eze, and Ensworth alum Rodney Owens and when you speak to them and ask them about Memphis and the coaching staff they say nothing but positive things."

Edmondson was in Memphis for the SMU game when Memphis hosted ESPN College GameDay. Seeing all that made a huge impression on him.

"It was unbelievable. The Liberty Bowl was sold out the whole experience was unreal."

He really likes the coaching staff. From Silverfield to Coach MacIntyre to Coach Watts, he has nothing but high praise for them all.

"You can tell they are really interested in you as a person when you meet them. They know what they are doing and know what they want to accomplish and I believe they can get it done."

Edmondson can play any linebacker spot. He loves how Memphis uses their linebackers. He's a sideline to sideline type of player who can lay the wood and can get back in coverage.

Now that his commitment is over he said he's working on getting stronger this offseason to help him prepare for his last year in high school.
