Four-star Nick Robinson re-commits to Memphis

Oklahoma City tight end Nick Robinson has delivered several surprises during his recruitment, and he saved his last one for his final college declaration on Wednesday when he re-committed to the Memphis Tigers.

The four-star prospect out of Putnam City West initially committed to Memphis back in June over offers from a dozen Power Five schools. The college interest continued despite that commitment, though, and Robinson started taking official visits in September, starting with one to UCF.

Not long after returning from UCF, though, Robinson eliminated the Knights from contention. Houston, Nebraska and others were considered for additional official visits, but before his second trip was taken Robinson de-committed from Memphis on Oct. 27.

The surprises did not end there, though. Programs like Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State, North Carolina and Arizona State all popped up as potential players for Robinson. His second official visit, though, did not take place until Jan. 13 and went to Mid-American Conference program Central Michigan.

Throughout, Memphis constantly remained a contender for Robinson. Even when he de-committed the four-star maintained high interest in the Tigers. He finally took his official visit to Memphis the weekend of Jan. 20 and announced his intention to commit the following Wednesday shortly after returning home.

In Robinson Memphis is getting a versatile receiving weapon who can flex out in the slot and create mismatches with his speed and athleticism, or even play on the outside where his size gives him an advantage.
