Hayes Named TSWA Offensive Player of the Week

University of Memphis running back Brandon Hayes has been named the Offensive Player of the Week by the Tennessee Sportswriters Association for his play in the Tigers' 21-6 win over UT Martin last week.
Middle Tennessee safety Kevin Byard was named TSWA's Defensive Player of the Week.

Hayes rushed for 105 yards on 27 carries and add ed a 12-yard touchdown reception in the Tigers' win. The Chicago, Ill., native gained 43 of his 105 yards on eight rushing attempts in the fourth quarter, helping Memphis seal the win. The game marked the senior's fourth, career 100-yard rushing contest and the second of the season.
Hayes has rushed for 625 yards (4.7 yards per carry) and four touchdowns and has caught 14 passes for 104 yards and two more scores this season.
Memphis travels to USF for a 6 p.m. Central game on Saturday. The contest is the first of a late-season stretch in which it plays three of its final four games on the road.
