Jace Yerty commits to Memphis

The Memphis Tigers picked up a commitment from JUCO tight end Jace Yerty today when he made his commitment known via social media.

What made him choose Memphis?

"The coaching staff felt like family and I believe the Memphis football program will do big things in the upcoming seasons," Yerty told TigerSportsReport.com.

Yerty, 6-foot-5 247 lbs., is originally from Memphis and went to Briarcrest Christian. He said Memphis was his favorite school growing up and that his favorite Tiger of all-time is DeAngelo Williams.

What's his relationship with the Memphis coaches like?

"Coach Salem is an awesome guy and an even better coach. He truly knows how to develop players and wants what’s best for the them. Coach Silverfield is the exact same way. He is a winner."

What's he working on this off-season to prepare him for this season?

"I’m going to work on becoming an elite TE that produces for the Tigers offense."
