Sheldon Jones is a 5-foot-9, 156-pound wide receiver from Easton High School in Louisiana and is one of the latest prospects to earn an offer from Memphis.

Jones announced that he had received his second offer from Memphis on Monday around noon, joining his other offer from Jackson State. It certainly is his biggest offer he holds currently and is hoping to not only learn more about the football program, but focus on the academic side.

“I’m looking forward to learning a lot more about the school and their Criminal Justice department,” Jones said. “What impressed me the most is that when you’re with the staff at Memphis, they make it seem as if I’ve known them my whole life.”

Right now, Jones has only been able to develop a relationship with the staff and has hopes on learning more about the program overall when he makes a visit. However, nothing has been set in stone as far as an official visit.

Jackson State is his only other offer right now that he holds, as he received that in his hands at the Under the Lights Camp in Baton Rouge.

As far as other interests, Jones said Southern Miss has been a program that has shown strong interest his way lately and could be heading up for an individual camp later on in the month of June.

Jones admits that he is looking early on for specific factors in a football program, such as a spread offense and a quarterback who is a pass first kind of guy. But being part of the 2018 class, Jones still has a ways to go in regards to where programs may stand with him and for any favorites right now.

With a ways to go, Jones is hoping to make his decision during his senior year of high school, but things could always change down the road as more offers come and visits are taken.

Jones was part of the Eagles team that finished the year with a 12-2 overall record.
