Karam looking at 3

Texas Tech Quarterback Jacob Karam is looking for an opportunity to play. He's narrowed it down to three schools. Houston, Memphis and UTEP.
Karam graduated from Texas Tech last week and will be transferring to a school where he'll be able to compete for the starting job. He appeared in five games for the Red Raiders and was 9-of-17 with 104 yards with two touchdowns.

He played behind Jr. Seth Doege who racked up 4,004 yards and 28 touchdowns.
Since Karam has already graduated he is eligible to play immediately under NCAA transfer rules and he's got his eyes on Houston, Memphis, and UTEP.
Why Houston?
"I really like Houston for a couple of reasons. One is because it's close to home. I went to High School less than an hour away from the campus. I also have a good relationship with Coach Levine. He recruited me when I was in high school"
Why Memphis?
"I like Memphis because of Coach Fuente. He's a former quarterback, he coaches quarterbacks, and he was a transfer quarterback so he'll know what I'm going through. I love the fact he helped develop Andy Dalton into an NFL Quarterback. I feel he's the right man for the job at Memphis and will get that program competing for conference championships soon."
Why UTEP?
"I have family in El Paso and I like Coach Price."
Karam is a dual-threat quarterback but he said he wouldn't label himself that way, "I consider myself a pocket passer. I'm a throw first kind of guy but I do have the ability to run when needed."
When asked what he was looking for in a school he said, "I'm looking for a place that I can feel comfortable and a place that will compete for championships. I only have two years left and I want to win."
You'd have to give the edge to Houston based on that but I wouldn't rule out Memphis. He's visiting Memphis next week and Coach Fuente has done a superb job of closing when he gets a kid on a visit.
"I'm looking forward to visiting Memphis. I really want to see the city and get a feel for the people, players and coaches. I want to win championships and I can tell Coach Fuente will get Memphis there sooner rather than later. I want to play for someone who knows the quarterback position and Coach Fuente definitely knows that position."
Karam said he would decide after the visit to Memphis and no later than January 10th.
