"I committed to Memphis", McManis said
McManis was receiving interest from Miss. State, Southern Miss and ULL but chose the Tigers, " I really like the direction Coach Porter is going. He tells it like it is and it just felt like home."
Another factor that came into play was that Memphis is close. McManis wanted to be close to home and a have a chance to play early. That's something he sees in Memphis.
McManis mentioned he built a good rapport with Coach Hopson as well, "Coach Hopson is a great coach, funny guy, but he definitely can be serious. They showed me that they really wanted me."
McManis plays both sides of the ball for Olive Branch. He plays some at quarterback but said Memphis wants him at linebacker, which is fine with him. He prefers that position.
He always dreamed of playing in the SEC. If an SEC offer came along would that change his mind about Memphis?
"I'd have to think about it but right now I'm a Memphis Tiger."
