The Memphis Tigers picked up commitment #4 of the 2024 class when Katy (TX) James E. Taylor ATH Cyrus Reyes made his choice known via social media.
Reyes, 6-foot-2 190 lbs., took his official visit to Memphis this past weekend and he spoke to TigerSportsReport to tell us why he chose Memphis.
"The Staff was outstanding. Coach Matt Barnes really emphasized the way he coaches and his coaching style is exactly what I need to be a great player. And on top of that their facilities were amazing. Better than some power 5’s I have visited. And lastly the culture and brotherhood is all there and I’m excited to be apart of it!!!"
What did he think of the visit to Memphis?
"It was great I loved it!! I loved everything! The coaches, culture, and the facilities!!! It was an awesome visit."
His favorite part?
"My favorite part was the ability to spend time with the coaching staff and their families as well as spending one on one time with the players!!! I also liked how they dedicated one full day towards my education!!"
Rivals lists Reyes as a athlete but Memphis recruited his as a Safety.
What's he going to work on this off-season to help him prepare for his senior season?
"I’m going to work on my speed, and enhance my tackling abilities. As well as continuing The grind in the weight room. My main goal is to be 110% better then I was last year!!"
Who does he model his game after?
"I learned a lot from Trevor Woods who is a Safety at the University of Colorado. I played with him my freshman year."
Will he take other visits or is he shutting his recruitment down now that he's committed to Memphis?
"I will be shutting down my recruitment and I will committed 110% to Memphis. I will be early enrolling to Memphis !"
