K.J. Lawson is AAC Player of the Week


AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

K.J. Lawson ∙ R-Fr. ∙ G/F ∙ Memphis ∙ Memphis, Tenn.

Lawson collects his first career player of the week honor after leading Memphis to a 2-0 week with victories at Houston and against UCF. Opening the week at Houston, Lawson had a career evening, posting a career-high 28 points and 16 rebounds as the Tigers collected a key win in overtime. The redshirt freshman helped Memphis wrap its week with a victory on Sunday, scoring a team-high 16 points and pulling down eight rebounds as the Tigers held off the Knights. Over the two games, Lawson averaged 22.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.


AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Vance Jackson ∙ Fr. ∙ F ∙ UConn ∙ Los Angeles

For the second consecutive week, Jackson collects rookie of the week accolades after helping the Huskies split a pair of games against SMU and East Carolina. At SMU, Jackson posted his fifth straight game with 10 or more points, knocking down a career-best five three-pointers en route to 17 points, also a career high.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Shake Milton ∙ So. ∙ G ∙ SMU ∙ Owasso, Okla.

Averaging 25.0 points, 5.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds, Milton led #rv/rv SMU to a 2-0 week in which it extended its home court winning streak to 17 games at Moody Coliseum. After posting a season-high 23 points against UConn, Milton followed up the effort with a career-best 27 points against Houston.

Matt Williams ∙ R-Sr. ∙ G ∙ UCF ∙ Orlando, Fla.

On Wednesday, Williams set an American Athletic Conference record with 11 3-pointers in UCF’s win versus USF. Williams’ 38 points marked the single-game high in The American this season. For the week, Williams averaged 24.0 points per game, going 13-of-28 from three-point range across two games.

Troy Caupain ∙ Sr. ∙ G ∙ Cincinnati ∙ Midlothian, Va.

Caupain led #20/20 Cincinnati to two victories last week, extending the Bearcats’ winning streak to 10 games. The senior averaged a team-high 16.0 points while shooting 10-of-20 from the field with 5.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game. Caupain posted a team-high 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting with nine rebounds and seven assists in the Bearcats’ 81-74 home win over Temple.

Shizz Alston, Jr. ∙ So. ∙ G ∙ Temple ∙ Philadelphia

In Temple’s lone game last week, Alston, Jr. matched his career high with 25 points at #20/20 Cincinnati. The sophomore was 9-of-15 from the field, including a 5-of-10 clip from three-point range. Alston, Jr. chipped in six assists and a career-high five steals.

Corey Henderson, Jr. ∙ Jr. ∙ G ∙ Tulsa ∙ Dallas

Henderson helped Tulsa improve to 5-1 in The American with two victories over Tulane and USF. The junior averaged 15.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in the two wins, including a career-high 22 points and four assists in the Golden Hurricane’s win at USF.
