Memphis picks up 17th commitment

The Tigers picked up their 17th commitment of the 2017 class when Alabama Safety Malik Smith tweeted he has committed to Memphis.

Smith, 6-foot-2 185 lbs., said it was the was Memphis made him feel when he was on an unofficial visit that made him choose Memphis.

"Memphis felt like home, I feel like I'll play a lot my first year," Smith told TigerSportsReport.com.

Smith's main recruiter is Defensive Coordinator Chris Ball.

"Coach Ball is a great coach. Very competitive and loves when you work. He recruited me the hardest out my schools."

He knows he's part of a special class. One that hopes to bring Memphis to the National stage.

The 17 commitments this early in the summer is the most commitments this early ever. They are currently ranked 33rd in the nation.
