Robinson talks Memphis commitment

The Tigers got some good news today with their 10th commitment of the 2014 class.

Three-star Linebacker/Defensive End Noah Robinson (6-foot-4 235 lbs) called up the Memphis coaching staff and told them he's going to be a Tiger.

"I love the coaches and facilities at Memphis. I feel pretty confident that I can come in and be a starter for them next year," said the confident Robinson.

Other schools that were interested in him were UConn, Temple, Rutgers, MTSU and South Alabama.

The Tigers have had a top 20 defense all year and that's something that Robinson wanted to be a part of.

"I mean it definitely helped because I think they're on the right path to success and I want to be a part of that."

Robinson says he sees himself as a Clay Matthews-type of player.

This week he will be visiting Memphis to check out the campus and University one more time but says he's a solid commit. He will not be visiting any other schools.

Playing for the Atlanta Sports Academy, Robinson said he knows that he had at least 88 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 1 interception, 3 blocked kicks, 3 fumble recoveries and 2 forced fumbles. Those stats are from 7 of the 10 games he played in; he doesn't have film on the other 3 games or else his tackles would be over 100.

His plan is to enroll early to get a head start on adjusting to college life and learning the playbook.

The way the season ended for the Tigers had no affect on him because he feels there was noticeable improvement all year and because the Tigers nearly knocked off UCF (who's playing in a BCS Bowl this year) and Louisville (who was nationally ranked).

Even though some may be down due to this year's record, Coach Fuente and his staff are getting recruits that want to play here and be a part of something special. That something special might just come next year with the quality of players that will be enrolled in the program.
