U of M Athletes Support Worthy Scholarship Cause

Tony Woods "No Day$ Off Til It Pay$ Off" 3-on-3 Tournament:
The first annual Tony Woods "No Day$ Off Til It Pay$ Off" 3-on-3 basketball tournament was held at Arlington High School on September 21, 2013. This tournament was started in memory of Tony Woods, a former AHS Tiger basketball player as well as a member of the Westminster College basketball team in Fulton, MO.

Woods was tragically killed earlier this summer.
In honor of the type person Tony was and his willingness to give back to youth, a scholarship has been established in his name by his mother Melba Woods and Westminster College. The goal is to help provide an education to Arlington High students in honor of Tony Woods.
This scholarship will benefit any future Arlington High graduating senior who has an interest in attending Westminster College. Parents and grandparents of current AHS seniors are encouraged to get involved with this scholarship effort as well as going to Westminster's web site http//:www.westminster-mo.edu/
Included among the participants in the 3-on-3 tourney were several University of Memphis student-athletes. Ariel Hearn from the women's basketball team volunteered to referee, while Anthony Cole, Markel Crawford and Kuran Iverson from the men's basketball team all played on 3-man teams.
It speaks volumes to the kind of young ladies and men in the U of M basketball programs to note that none of the student-athletes publicized their activities, instead preferring to lend their efforts to a worthy cause in virtual anonymity.
Westminster has been named one of the top ranked institutions nationwide by both The Washington Post and Princeton Review. Donations to this scholarship are ongoing and other fund raising efforts will be held in Arlington and throughout Memphis.
If you are interested in making a donation please make checks payable to The Tony Woods Scholarship Fund and mail to or drop off at First Citizens Bank, 5845 Airline Rd, Arlington, TN 38002.
The Woods family (especially Tony's mother, Melba) would like to thank Arlington High and everyone who participated in the September 21st "No Day$ Off Til It Pay$ Off" 3-on-3 tournament.
