The Tigers start spring practice today and it will be the first spring practice for Ryan Silverfield as head coach. Silverfield is in his 2nd year but last year's spring practice was canceled due to the COVID pandemic.

This just might be the most anticipated spring practice in a long time. There's a lot of position battles to watch.

All eyes will be on the quarterbacks.

Grant Gunnell comes in from Arizona to battle with Peter Parrish, Keilon Brown, Seth Henigan, and Drake Day.

They all will get a fair shake at earning the starting job but look for Gunnell to win the job. We feel Brown and Parrish will battle for the backup spot and Henigan will redshirt.

A lot of eyes will be on the running backs too. The Tigers used a running back by committee last year when Kenny Gainwell opted out of the season and we'll have to wait and see if anyone breaks out as a clear #1.

Rodrigues Clark led the team in rushing for the season last year with Kylan Watkins coming in 2nd but Asa Martin led the team in the final 3 games.

Brandon Thomas is getting a lot of pre-spring love and the Tigers still have redshirt sophomore Cam Fleming on the roster too. We're not sure anyone will break out out as the clear #1 and it's likely Memphis will be running back by committee again this year.

The offensive line will be fun to watch. There talent there and some guys may be moved around. Who will play Center? Jacob Likes? Dylan Parham? Matt Dale? Time will tell.

Cornerback is another position to watch.

TJ Carter is gone. Jacobi Francis is back. Who will start on the other side of Francis? Will LeAndre Thomas move to corner or stay at Safety? Will Julian Barnett start at Corner?

The Tigers have recruited on a high level for over the past 5 years now and this just might be the most talented spring practice roster in a long time. There's a lot of young talent ready to jump into the 2-deep chart. Keep an eye on defensive backs An'Darius Coffey and Greg Rubin.

Defensive lineman Kajuan Robinson got unexpected playing time last year and improved greatly each week. Look for him to cement himself in the 2-deep chart.

The Tigers will get 15 practices and will end with Friday Night Stripes on April 16th.
